fishing buddy???
« on: Jan 14, 2017, 06:47 AM »
Yeah, I'm a girl, but I've got my own stuff (snowmobile too.)  Mostly fish with one other person (Hi Mic!) but I have a lot more days off than him during the week so I'm looking for other people to fish with at times.  And his GF (my best friend) is getting mad he spends more time with me on his days off!!  ;)  I've got Tues-Thurs off every other week and Tues-Sat the others.  Work night shift.

I live in Marquette but haven't really ice fished any smaller lakes near here.  Mostly LBDN and KBay and out from Falls R in Lanse.  I'd really like to target pannies or walleye, but happy to fish for anything!

Any takers???  I'll bring cookies!!! Or beer??

Right now I'm off til the 20th.

I KNOW there are fish in the lakes in Gwinn.  I'm looking for someone to go WITH me.  I don't know the lakes (only a few times I've headed that way soft water fishing.)  I don't know where I can park (off street, on street, with snowmobile trailer, etc..  Pictures of fish don't help me.

I don't need to sit in a shack with anyone, like I said I have all my own stuff.  I get it.  No one wants to add someone to there little circle of fishing friends.  I know people at the hospital who fish who've never asked me to join but I've asked them to come with me when I've gone out.  But they'll talk all day about it with me.

Free cookies and beer, and no takers?  :o  Man way too many folks holding on to their secret spots. If you were in western PA, we'd have you out on the ice (if we had any).

Sorry, this reminds me of a song  "You don't have to be lonely, at icefishing only dot com..."

Good luck in your search.

I hear ya Eddie!  All the threads I read have people offering to meet on the ice all the time.  And here I live in the UP where Yoopers are supposed to be the "nicest people they ever met!"  I guess that excludes fishermen!

I did kinda feel like I was posting on a dating site...I love fishing, I have a dog, have a job, haha!!!   ;D

Hope some ice finds you!!

A lady that icefishes, has her own equipment, and not one person wants to take her fishing? They must all be afraid you'll out fish them!

The Trolls and Transplants have ruined the "nicest people they ever met" in the Central UP, you go to the western UP and some parts of the eastern and you might find that still, but the central UP isn't want it used to be.

That being said, it has also put a huge burden on the fishing, everyone only keeps, and i feel like they keep everything, and lakes get fished out within a month of any word coming out that the fishing is halfway decent. I think we really need a slot limit like MN. But that's just me.

Today I fished Big Shag Lake in Gwinn.  First time I ever fished it and caught a bunch of palm sized bluegills. I walked out from the boat launch along the snowmobile tracks to the left as you look from the launch. Look for the second bay and fish on the lake side of it. There were lots of others fishing it. The gills were on the bottom and I was using waxworks.  All the ones I caught are still there (I didn't feel like cleaning anything tonight).
Give it a shot you may get into some decent gills.

Don't take it personal, I love ice fishing, but work gets in the way all the time. I've only been out once this year. If we are in Marquette, Gwinn or big bay, I'll let you know, see what you're up to. I just don't get the chance to travel and fish like I want.

Your welcome to come fish Big Bay De Noc with me, but the perch and whitefish has been really slow. I had four really nice perch the other day and had just three today. I might try for whitefish tomorrow.

Lots of good fishing this year in the Republic area. We have had warm weather though so if your thinking about icefishing be safe. River is pretty much done for the year but lnland lakes should still be fine then. Good luck!
