Upcoming Weekend

So do we think we will have fishable ice this weekend after these 2 days of warm and rain?

I hope so! Planning on a Saturday morning trip. I think it depends on where you are. Places further north had more ice built up already than we did here in Central IL. We also didn't get any real hard rain yesterday, but we'll see what rolls in this afternoon. I'm hoping the lows the next couple nights are enough to re-freeze whatever thawed.

Yep. Plenty of ice before the warm up, thursday and friday colder weather will solidify whatever shoreline that was deteriorating. Good to go for sure!

10"+ everywhere I've been this week. Didn't lose anything from what I can see, just got wet on top and re froze last night, then wet again today and will freeze back up within the next few hours.

Don't you think that's because of the river dropping so drastically?

Your right, fast dropping water and crappy bite unless you hit a lake or pond

Looks like I'm going to be heading to Pratts Wayne forest preserve in Dupage this weekend. Was thinking about Harrier lake, but Pickerel lake also looks good. Anyone prefer one over the other?
Good luck and stay safe!

The Chain still has 10-12 inches of ice as of 1-13 creepers are a must along with patience. Bite was very lite and very few takers. They would suck it in and spit it out so fast you couldnt set the hook. Hope the BIG warm up doesnt kill our ice,,,,,,
