I'm looking to respool all my rods and have pretty much always ran 2 lb line with little to no problems. Last year I hooked into some pretty nice fish and got snapped off after some long fights. Was contemplating going up to 4 lb but don't want crappie shying away from the heavier line any input would be awesome

Go with braid for your mainline, then you can use a flourocarbon leader in whatever lbs. you want. When fishing mainly panfish I use 3 lbs, if walleye/bigger bass I might step it up to 6lbs. I carry 3, 4, 6, 8, and 20 lbs flouro. 20 lbs is perfect for tip up fishing pike.

I have used the braided line awhile back. I found that if you didn't snap the line about half way down when you set the hook. The oxygen
on the line would come off and clutter up you screen. also never had much success on cold days trying to use it outside of the tent.
Inside  in the warmth it worked good. This year I am trying Sufix ice magic in 2 & 3#. Berkley Trilene 100% fluorocarbon ice in 2 & 4#.
Just ordered Sufix 832 ice braid 4# ghost to try.
Too soon to know which I prefer.

Agreed, Suffix Ice Magic is all I use.  Caught plenty of heavy fish (catfish) on 2 and 4 LB test.

4lb P-line is the best I have ever used. Smallest jigs I own go down without pulling line off of the reel.

I had been using 3# Berkley Micro Ice Solar and had no complaints. This year I am trying 3# Suffix Orange and like it as well. I have a spool of 4# Micro Ice Clear to put on a dead stick rod.

I've had excellent luck with P-Line's Floro-ice line   #3lb or 4lb is all I use. I have it on all my rods.
I also use P-Line's CX Premium for my open water fishing too. I've just had really good luck with their line products, regarding balance between strength, stretch, memory, and overall use, so I do what others do here on this site.

Stick with what you have had confidence and success with--regardless whether it's braid, mono, or brand. If it works well for you--stay with it!

I will run P-line on all my panfish rods in 1-3 lb test depending on clarity of water and typical fish size.  For my spoon and jignrap rods I like to use PowerPro braid in 6 or 8 lb test.
Seagur used to make a good 100% flouro ice line as well...I just don't seem to find it anywhere anymore.

I used to use p-line which was a great line but i wanted something better. Throughout the yrs. Ive tried maxima, suffix, seaguar, p-line and berkley ice lines. Now all i use is Gamma polyflex 2 and 3lb. If gamma is no longer available i would go back to p-line as my second option.
