I have the 6" model and love it.  To me, it blows the NILS out of the water.  More durable, lighter, free blade sharpening for life, replacement blades are only $40, and you can install yourself.  It also has floatation built into it, so you won't lose it.  I pair it with the Milwaukee Fuel drill and 4ah battery.  I have yet to even think of needing a second battery.  I move a lot too.  Lastly, the blade cover is genius compared to the NILS.  NILS is a good auger, but I sold mine the week after I got my kdrill.  Just my opinion.

Well, I chase the big Macks at the Gorge and 2 holes overlapped with the 6" has been just fine.  Three holes overlapped in a clover form is even better.  Overlapping cuts is where the kdrill shines in my opinion.  The chipping blades instead of the shaving blade of the NILS makes overlapping a breeze.

Does that floatation device really work, I bought a 6 inch k drill, has anybody ever had theirs come out of their drill, it is a lot of money going down the hole if it does not float, thanks

Kdrill recommends something higher in the torque than the kobalts I have seen.

Got the Milwaukee m18 fuel with two 5ah batteries.  I was in below zero temps drilling 8" holes in 18 inches of ice.   It worked great.

I got the drill for pretty much half off awhile ago brand new so I really couldn't pass it up, I'm still waiting for my K drill to come in guess I shouldn't of ordered it from Cabela's when it said it was on backorder.

Is Kobalt that much lower in the torque range?

I USED TODAY WITH MY K DRILL, 6 INCH,   a  DEWALT HAMMER DRILL DCD996B  with a 5ah battery  worked really nice in 12 inches of ice. the hammer drill has a handle to help hold on too,  plus I can screw my ice anchors down with it too.

ya there sweet drilled through 42in of ice or so in around a minute id guess its just as fast as gas augers from what I've seen so far.

Tomorrow will be a better test of how many holes I can drill with the 2 and 4 battery?

I have the 8" kdrill and the 6" nills. Both work great, but the kdrill ices up around the blade and won't cut, especially in slushy conditions. The plastic around the blade holds water, and spinning it out after use doesn't seem to prevent freezing up . In slush, the kdrill builds up ice around it's starting point. I've never had those issues with my nils.

6 in works good with the Milwaukee M18 ice less than 24", after that it doesn't seem to clean as well as my gas auger>
