Didn't get out til noon today...first outing in the new bob house and using the new Marcum 825 SD and the new ION auger!
After 67 years of humping hand chisels and augers, fishing blind and braving the cold with no shelter (besides the otter pop up we got last year)I have now become up to date!

The learning curve on the Marcum was pretty easy except that I put the camera down the same hole as my jig and was staring eyeball to eyeball with it all afternoon...gotta make a 2nd hole for the camera so I can set it a few feet away. It came with a remote panner that was slicker than snot...just hit the button and turn the camera!  I saw a few fish and one was a laker! I thought I'd seen a couple of rainbows too but not sure...no bites today but I'm psyched to get out early tomorrow to fish the sunrise bite!
I was so amused watching the bottom of the lake I never set out a tip up... ;)

Tomorrow's the day I get my first laker in 2 years...I feel it! (caught many in my youth over in Wolfeboro at Barndoor and a couple near the 3 Islands on Winnisquam but Newfound has me skunked so far...

30.21 barometric pressure plus Cummings beach equals fish no bite. Still awesome to be out there.  Happy birthday Big brother.

Go Go Get Em! Mowbizz!

Good luck out there and enjoy the camera. Visibility on Newfound is fantastic with a camera.

Different day today. Windy, cold and not many lakers seen nor caught. Tippin joined us today and set up his portable. We ended up tearing it down and having him fish in mine with me and Laker Taker.
Green Goblin made it out and visited for a bit.

Stalker came out and visited today. He was staking on the ice with a picnic table umbrella parasailing around the lake. Pretty funny. Great to see him again.

Caught up to Outdoorlife (ZZ's son) from Manchester. ZZ had gone home.

Good day but long walk pulling our gear to and from. Cant wait till it freezes up so we can travel via snowmobile, atvs etc....

Got some great footage this weekend to start making more videos. Stay Tuned....

Tomorrow i believe we are putting out Ladybug and Jonesy house before the snow / rain storm hits. Should be easy peasy.

Now to deal with leg cramps from all the walking in heavy clothes.....

Ha! I knew there was a reason I didn't catch one!
So...what is the BP reading for tomorrow?
I'm gonna go look it up...

Explains my 10 hours of fishing and only a dink perch. Regardless, probably the last time I'll fish Cummins lol

Been playing with lakers all day at Cummings...had an aggressive one tearing up the bottom eating my chum and he went for my jig but I pulled it out of his (or her) mouth.
Looked like a fat one too.
Still at it til dark...just had one cruise by a few minutes ago.
Love this camera!

So after we got back from fishing at the North end of Mayhew, Laker Taker noticed someone had cut a hold behind his house (door side) about 6 feet from his house. The hole was fairly fresh as it hadn't frozen over and there was half a shiner in the hole.

It's one thing to use someones house as a wind break (which i would have a problem with personally) with a hole someone could step in while in the dark and not expecting a hole to be there but the other problem / question is what was put down the hole? Did they chum with a can of corn?, did they lose something down the hole?, did they drop a bunch of chum in the hole, a jig, a fork or spoon? etc etc...so many unanswered questions. They could of ruined someones fishing spot.

All i can say is good thing we fished late and that person was gone when we got there otherwise someone would of been stuffed in that hole.

For those that don't have a wind break and wanna fish out of the wind, go get a portable or wind break and don't use some's house without permission. That's just plain dumb.

Please show some ice fishing etiquette while your out there.

I'll ask around next weekend. I was out tonight with Laker Taker putting out Ladybugs and Jonesy house and didn't see anything...of course it was dark out and didn't know about it.

Again, i'll ask around next weekend.

Btw, Duck Doctor posted it up on the Newfound Circus Face Book page. It will get circulated around and again will keep you posted if anyone has seen it.

Sorry to hear....sux losing your stuff.

S-L-O-W day here so far at Cummings...the few people that came after me already packed it in...
A couple of Bald Eagles stopped by earlier...ice is cracking and booming...I'll keep at it for a while more.

Anybody been further up lake this week?

Is there any ice along the ledges area bay near Belle Isle or is it all open North of Mayhew?

Can't complain about the warm weather since I make my living outdoors...
But GOTTA complain about the warm weather if I can't fish!!

I flew the drone last weekend to check out the ice conditions north of Mayhew island.  It looked like there might be some ice around the canoe access at Wellington state launch that horse shoes down towards Mayhew island and over to the condos at whittemore. There is open water from there north.
There is also a very big open hole between Mayhew island and open water heading north.
Mayhew island has only 4" of ice last weekend and I'm sure after this week it will be less.  :'(

To answer your question, there is open water around belle island.

Hope this helps.

We got another 10-12 days of this warm crap and then it looks like a much more favorable pattern of cold. Sucks but what can we do.
