40 mile is a big lake in the middle of no where. If anyone thinks it's going to get killed with pressure cause of one post, well that's just silly. If anything, writing "cool way to kill a good lake" should put far more attention on that lake than mentioning that you seen some nice perch. There's big fish of all sorts all over this province. Stocks go up and down. But I can't imagine one post will decimate the population of any one specific lake.
There's a lake 4 hours from Edmonton whose name I can't remember, was 4 letters, word got out there was good perch fishing there, it got swarmed and killed by people from Edmonton. 40 mile is less then 4 hours from Calgary and has a substantial amount more population in the area (Calgary, Medicine Hat, Lethbridge) so yes, ousting where you catch jumbo perch does and will kill a lake quick. Give pointers and locations through PM, never on an open board. Way too man lurkers,
Are you talking about waiu. The same happened with cross and snipe also.
Well now ain't that a cool way to kill a good lake. Tell the whole internet while your at it. If you know any spots on the lake please share them with the internet too.Give it maybe 2 3 yrs. tops and the fishn is gonzo just like at Crimson and many many more used to be good lakes.SHOTGUN
You just gave up more info than the original post see you soon just kidding I know where the biggies are and my trap is shut
Also want to add, 40 mile reservoir is another small reservoir in Southern Alberta.Gull is about 19 km long and 4.5 km wide halfway down the lake.40 mile is about 10 km long and a typical coulee reservoir (narrow) avg about . 8 km wide. The only large lake/Reservoir down south is Newel. And it is still smaller then gull at 13.5 long and about 4.50 wide
Pretty sure Mcgregor is longer then 19 kmEdit: Mcgregor is 40 km long and 2km wide at the widest point. But it is a narrow lake for the most part, Newell is like a big bowl.QuoteSorry John have to disagree. Been on that lake too many times to count and have been from the no boat launch to the far south end lot's and never has it been 40K I think you are confusing Newell with Mcgregor.

Sorry but sometimes google can be wrong too. Here is what I know about Mc gregor. With my boat according to the GPS traveling 30mph it takes me about 20 minutes from the north boat launch which is about 500 meters from the north shore to the south shore where the highway crosses over. Now if you take the canal and continue on with that then you may well have 40k flowing into traverse to the south. Having flown over that area many times it does look like one long lake flowing into traverse, but it is mainly the canal. That could well be what google earth has seen and posted as the lake.In any event it is not an easy lake to fish but I have caught several rainbows there over the years. Good burbot fishing in Feb and March.
Lake is a wash , my experiment worked. Like I the master jumbo perch Slayer would give the slightest hint on Jumbo's, hah yeah rite. After all the butt hurt people got their panties in a bunch on here a few years ago, no wonder this site is DEAD as Hastings lake lol. (Fu anvil)
I see you guys all carry on with the same crap here as you do on AO. How embarrassing for you.
