How's the ice holding up on Makwa/Jumbo and other lakes in the area? Thinking of driving up from Stoon for a last kick at the can on Friday. Just wondering if it'll be drive on, walk on, or stay home.

I can't speak for loon or makwa, but I was up at lac des isle on 24,25, and 26th and we needed to scrape the snow off to ice level to allow the auger to get all the way through the ice. It seemed like good solid ice, lots of big trucks driving everywhere on the lake.

The fishing was pretty weak, only caught a few small pike and a little white fish. we nevermade it into Rangers bay, just off pickrell point and in front of the main beach at northern cross.
