Ice Conditions Southern Wi
« on: Dec 28, 2016, 01:44 PM »
Anyone know what the ice is like after this rain? I have a few days coming up where I might be able to make it out. I'm nervous what the rain and poor weather did to the ice.  ???

I'm south of you and took a drive around area lakes yesterday. Some folks out but not far (except for the City Beach @ Lac Labelle in Ocon).

My opinion is that the rain was the best thing that could have happened locally. We had over a foot of snow on top of just a few inches of ice (at best) and the stage was set for a sloppy, unsafe mess for the balance of the season. Got rid of the snow, re-freeze, keep the big snow off and bring some single digit temps.

Looks like that's what's in store. Got a little snow, little more rain  >:(, then cold.
To fish or not to fish? That's a stupid question!
