Any word on how it's looking now? I've never ice fished on the res. Is there parking near the dam?

Fished it yesterday, 3-4" ice in some areas 4-5".
I went out off of blush hill straight out.
Just jigging, caught a lot of perch. Threw back the little ones.
Ended up with my limit.
6-8 big perch. Rest 9-10".
Caught one small brown, released it.
Fishing has really gotten better there.

Blush Hill is the one off of 100 in Waterbury (that road is Blush Hill road, and ends at the boat launch)

No the road is open all the way to the res. The parking lot is even plowed, but some days parking is tight.

Be careful going down there since when the road is icy or muddy it's a lot easier to get down to the water than back up the hill on the way out.
May the fish be with you.

It is definitely easy to drive on the lake unintentionally. We watched a Honda Accord come down the road way too fast and they stopped 10' on to the ice after sliding all the way down the ramp.

I'm definitely hitting this place opening day of trout season.
Last year we did real well.
I talked to a guy there the other day said they have been catching trout jigging for perch.
So the trout population is getting better and better.

Was a nice time out on the Res this weekend. Curious though, do all of you access from the Blush Hill parking area? Has anyone accessed from the Little River State park, or the dam? Is there a gate there that won't allow you to drive up close? I'm wanting to fish closer to the dam, or toward Cotton Brook but I don't have a sled to venture out that far from Blush Hill.

The road to the State Park is gated by the dam, but the dam access is open.

Part of the beauty of this reservoir is its relative inaccessibility, in my opinion ;D

Totally, I'm all good for a little nature walk;) So the dam access... you mean the boat launch area right at the dam?

Some years they leave the gate to the campground open, if there's not a lot of snow you can drive onto the campground.

Driving my wife to the hospital in Burlington today. She is going to to be at the hospital for 2-3 hours. Any places within 10-15 I could catch a few perch?
