Whats happening in Westman?
« on: Dec 22, 2016, 08:49 AM »
Just wondering what the ice conditions, and the bite is like in the Westman area? Has anyone been catching much at Oak Lake or rivers? Any information would be most appreciated as I'm hoping to get out over the Christmas break for a day or two. Also wondering if they're biting at Sandy Lake at all?

I haven't been out yet, but am getting reports of around 18-20 inches of ice. From what they tell me the bite has been lite.

On Oak Lake I caught 3 walleye in an afternoon and missed 2 from noon till 5 pm. I READ through some other reports mentioning the bite is good in the AM couple people limiting out closer to the dam. I tried Dauphin yesterday and without the flasher may have not caught a thing. Very fussy. However I did end up with 3 keepers and lost 3 at the hole. Only had 3 hours to spare on Dauphin. I'll be back if the snow allows.
