Got scared. Didn't end up going on main access. Back road is logged in. Ended up on Montreal. Had a decent day!

Slower day. Didn't get out till after 10. 4 of us out only 5 walleye on ice. Snot rockets all day but didn't see a walleye after 230-300. Also add we were not very mobile today. Set shack up and were inside all day.

On Bittern during Christmas season, slow, maybe 1 fish every half hour.  5 walleye, some Jacks.  Jig head and minnow.  Lots of ice, maybe 25 trucks spread out, including right in the middle of the lake.  Would like to know if people have better luck south of the point?

heard reports and didn't believe it but saw pics today of lots of heaves and water on both bittern and montreal.  talked to one guy had to cut a trail in the bush to get around a heave on montreal after it pushed up when he was on the wrong side.  sounds like the fishing isn't worth the hassle either.  be careful out there.

Heard mont very tough to get on so tried bittern
Crossed one small ridge in safe spot after seeing 2-3 others that looked sketchy
1 small walleye and 4 small pike after 3hrs.
Spoke with 3 groups on way off. All about to pack up also.
Very slow.  Should have stayed and made burgers.  At least wind was down

do you guys stay in one spot or move around ?

depends how many people I am with. if I'm with all the friends maybe 2 spots a day

if its me and 1-2 other buddies its easier to move whenever.

if I'm alone I gypsy fish.

i do the same til prime time then camp out.  more important to have lines in the water and be on a decent spot than travelling at that point i think.  it's been lots of drilling out there for minimal results, limits should have stayed at 2.

I agree  with it being so shallow and so much traffic I would try and get away from everyone and settle in for the dark

Im not sure if this is true as heard it 3rd hand but supposedly a net is in bittern now
I really hope not, its slow enough there now  doesnt need commercial pressure

last year I came across a spot with 10-12" holes with pre-determined spacing with at least 200-300 fish clean on the ice - nothing but backbones and heads on them.

so I assumed it was a net.

so this would not surprise me - the locals are allowed to net.

Bittern is nowhere near as hot as it used to be, they should have left the limit at 2. A few years of some fairly major pressure like it has been getting and the population is starting to collapse.
well if you were me then i'd be you and i really wouldn't know what the hell I was talking about...
