« on: Dec 10, 2016, 07:46 PM »
Well little early but saw some ice forming around the shoreline on north side of the lake, I will start updating with pics once it starts to lock up.

Shouldn't be long! I found a bay I fish (not on Loughborough) completely iced over today. The depth there is around 15' with a little current.

Just moved in near the launch on Division. looking forward to fishing the area this winter, usually fish the west end but might have to try this side of the lake for a change.. Snow covered with bits of open water at the bridge.

Nice to see this thread up and running again!

This fall I checked out the southwest access point off Davidson Beach and it seems like that hill would be crazy to haul gear up/down in the winter. Think if I do head to Loughborough this year it'll be off the boat launch side, quick walk to deep water there.

Ya Ive been tempted to try davidson but that hill would not be fun hauling gear. I checked out the launch this morning, ice forming around the shore at the very end of the lake, maybe covering the 6-8 fow areas but everything else is still wide open.  Probably best anyway that its still open because we are going to get a big dump of snow tmo.

nothing new to report, even with the colder temps didnt make much ice I suspect because of the wind. Steam rising off the water like mad this morning so I think it will be one of those deals where there is nothing, nothing nothing then over night its locked up for good.  When that happens I will post an update, then after its locked for a couple days I will start checking the thickness.

The cold weather overnight created a thin skim of ice up to the launch out to the 40 fow range.

Unfortunately the wind chewed it up by the afternoon but few cold, low wind nights should get it done.

Looking out the window this morning...😀😀😀😀....the cold temps last night have put a skim on the very west end where I am. As long as the winds stay down we are in!! Hopefully another week and it just might be fishable!!

Has a light dusting now and also as far as I can see....in my PJs. Lol. One more night of cold temps tonight and I just may get my spud out tmw to have a peak. Warm temps this week may slow down the ice making process a bit though.

not sure on the thickness havent checked it yet but big dump of snow coming tmo normally thats bad because it insulates the ice against the cold air however with a couple days above zero this week the snow should help to insulate the ice against those warm days.  It wont gain much ice until thurs night but dont think it will lose much either.  Now with thin ice and lots of snow it will sink the ice a bit and make a slushy sloppy mess.  I might go out this afternoon and do a test hole if I do I will post a report.

Hey Guys

Rick and I went out from the west end launch to check the ice, didnt get far. Just off shore we were on 3 inches of solid black ice out about 30 ft the spud was going through with one hard whack so thats were we stopped.  Probab 2.5" of black ice over 5 fow water. At 6' 205lb thats where my comfort level ends!  It most likely continued that way to the drop off, but after that probably 2" or less. Wait until next weekend would be my advice but if anyone does feel adventurous please take precautions and post a report.

JZ i should've stopped to chat, coulda figured that was you. I was the guy in orange suit and the blue clam that came out shortly after you.
I got one in 80 FOW around 11, gave up after 130 cuz I hadnt marked anything in a while.
Marked fish everywhere I was, 70 FOW, 80 FOW and just under 100 FOW. Only chasers came at 80 and 100, one played with me up and down for a good 10 minutes without biting. erg.

Saw at least 3.5 inches everywhere I was.
