We had a few inches of snow yesterday which has melted and more coming on Thursday evening.   Still pretty warm in the day at about38degF but I have seen some skim ice in the bays early morning.    We have to have patience which isn't my forte !      Should have my new flasher delivered by the end of the week.   Will have to find all my gear and check it out and change out line on the reels.

Yo Guys & Gals,

Fished Chaumont 2 weeks ago. Went out with the big boys. Caught lots of perch and we caught 28 cisco's between the 2 of us. They hit on the way down and back up, seldom on the bottom. Not my normal fare but I brought a couple home and smoked them. Tasty yet boney. Hopefully, the good bite will hold into hard water season. Can't wait.
may be better pickled[i donot know about smoked then pickled??]
but soft bones[pickled]

Just got back from a few days at Cape Vincent.  Read the Chaumont Hardware report but a lot of the ice didn't look too good to me.  There is fishable ice but there are some wet spots and  it's pretty warm today.   I hope it cools down fast.   I plan on fishing after Jan 1 .

Don't know but kind of doubt it would be safe.    The one fisherman I saw was sort of near the tip of independence point.

Easy, easy, better go knock on wood or something, keep it up and we will have 5 foot of snow and 4 ft of ice to drill through.....

Lol, that's hilarious!!!  Can't wait to get up there . One of the best fisherys in the state. And I would take the 4 foot of ice just to jig up some of those 👀. But 5 feet of snow, that does not sound fun at all. So I hope you knocked on some wood.

Drove by Chaumont today on my way to Rochester.   Not too much snow but the bay appears to be frozen over with just a blanket of snow.  Should get cold tonight and make more ice.   Maybe in a week or so.    Can't wait !!!

There were a dozen trucks at the chaumont launch yesterday and wheelers on the ice. Not sure how far out they were as the visibility was low.
