Hey guys, saw on the countdown thread a few people from my area.....Hopwood, Mount Braddock...

Born in the great crapty of Uniontown here, lived in Johnstown a little, Smithfield a few years now I'm up at the big hill across from Pappy's restaurant (that was for you Mr. Hopwood). Gonna be building a house on the top of the mountain Mount Braddock Side.

Just wanted to see who was all around the area and have a good thread for reports and shooting the 5hit.

Looking at the extended forecast I am thinking two weeks we could be on the ice, at the latest. Anyone agree!? Below is the forecast for Fort Hill, PA....I use this for High Point Lake.

Looking at our extended forecast for the area anyone have any predictions when our southwestern pa season will start ? Last year on Xmas eve I was on the boat in a tee shirt sure would be nice to ice fish this year but I doubt it still new to the sport so I figured I would ask more experienced people's opinion

I'm going to be in Ebensburg this coming Friday for a dinner. So I'll take my auger and do a test hole on Lake Rowena. I'm guessing it will be pretty close if temps that they are predicting hold up. I'll post what I find. Be safe. Wear flotation. Lou

If it stays like it has been there are some trying to fish deep creek this weekend. Back in the coves might be ok just spud plenty. Myself I prefer 5" on ice and a few heavier friends to lead the way.

Greene County here, maybe last to get ice. Last year we barely had any at all. Did a lot of runs to Fayette and Westmoreland to get on some ice. Local farm ponds just capped this morning. Looks like a deer went through on one. You can follow the tracks to a lot of broken ice then eventually see some more tracks out further on. I'm wondering if High Point is any good yet. I will probably try to make some calls to find out this afternoon.
