Water temp at King ST ferry dock was 48 degrees on Saturday...a long way to go.

Had the boat out Sunday AM amid the falling snow and going back out tomorrow.

Truth be told: even put up for the winter my boat is never far from ready for action, so it gets used until the shore gets socked in with ice.

Hopefully this year it'll get the several months off that it didn't get last year.
May the fish be with you.

At 5 PM today there was ice going across Bomoseen at the float bridge. It will be a bit before we can walk on her but it is coming.

Mine is currently on manual power and since the big pike are shallow, it's a matter of rowing for five minutes and we're on them.
May the fish be with you.

Some of the marshes and swamps had a coating a couple of weeks ago, but I haven't seen any on anything bigger than a puddle otherwise. There was no sign of any icing on Champlain itself yesterday, not even along the shore.

Big pike are all over the place though- might be sacrilege to say on an ice fishing forum, but fall is really my favorite fishing time. Those monster northern pike get the pulse pounding.

Didn't see the fish itself, but there was one chasing the lure just at the end of the retrieve and very near the boat that created a bow wave ahead of it and just imagining the fish it would take to make that wave will keep me going back until the freeze. :)
May the fish be with you.

Randy
