I agree with keeping the fish+meet to the middle of ct.-Even though Wethersfield isn't a favorite place to fish: it would host a good gathering for all from the north, south, east,+ west of the states' ice fishermen. And yes, TAG's tackle in Plainville wants to sponsor the event with lots of minnows on-site for shanty members. The shop is packed to the walls with gear for the season; everything from jigs+lures, to rods, tip-ups, line; hand, gas, +propane augers, blades; ice suits, hats+gloves shelters, buckets and sounders.  There is new and used gear in all sections. Tom at the tackle shop is excited about the event! And so am I.

I'm not familiar with Batterson (ice fishing wise) so don't know the chances of icing a lot of fish...but I do know the cove will produce, it's centrally located, has plenty of parking and can hold an event like this comfortably. You're also pretty much guaranteed fish from crappie, perch, bass, the occasional pike...and oh yea, two years ago at one of our events someone iced a striper! I've seen hold over stripers pulled out of there each year (except last year of course)  ::).
So, with that said I vote for the cove...but will travel anywhere we decide.
And Ravo, would love the chance to do some jigging with you again as well as meet some of the other "crazy, obsessed, fishermen", on this site!  ;D
I'm in!!

Right before those guys iced that striper was about the time I caught my only bowfin through the ice. Beautiful spawning colors. You just really never know what's coming through the hole there

with 21+ days to go we are leaning 2 to 1 in favor of the cove,we need a few cold windless nights,to have our waters skim over and lock up,once that happens the forcast looks very good

We shouldn't have any problems if the forecast holds. Multiple nights in single digits and teens. I see plenty of black ice in our future

From the votes that are in,looks like it will be the Cove,Other details need to be worked out, I have a commitment for Bait,I will be the event Cook, and will supply Cased meats grilled(venison). Need a few guys to step up with Fish for frying, Rolls or bread, Cooking tent,Condiments, paper plates, Coffee? The date will be set at the first of the yr depending on Ice conditions, A good 8"of ice would be great

I would be interested in meeting a few local folks, and I could probably bring some homebrewed beer to add to the pot for those who like to enjoy an adult beverage on the ice  ;)

Following along, I don't much care about location...the date will make or break it for me, if I have the time I don't mind driving wherever and don't have much experience fishing around here.

The homebrew will get a few guys attention,There will be many different styles of Icefishing represented on the cove.I'm sure one of them will suit your style. This coming few days we are going to break a few record lows for this time of yr :icefish:

I know it's still early and has been very windy. But anyone know if any ice has started down in the cove?

Well assuming the wind didn't tear it apart, I bet it's a lot closer to being safe.

I vote Cove.  Never been, but would like to try.  I can bring my portable fire pit, slab bacon, as well as wood.  Fire pit works great for grilling.
If you can't play nice, get off the ice!

We are looking at around twentyfive people, for the meet &greet, Safe ice will be key, I'm going to throw a tentative date out ice permitting? Saturday Jan 14th.  this date gives us more than three weeks for more ice to form

I'd like to lend a hand as well.  The only thing that would stop me is if Lake George happened to be ready for the first time of the season on that day.  I will bring my Cabelas 6x8 and my Otter (assuming there is now snow on the ice) so anyone can take advantage of those.

Also happy to drill holes for anyone who may need them.
