Any reports on ice depth at St Brieux boat launch, Lungs Point, Little Lake @ Lake Lenore? I'm sure people will start venturing out this weekend.

While you're waiting for ice out there you might as well shoot some boar and make some sausage for ice fishing.

I saw 6 wild Boar near the junction of highway 16 and 20 a couple of big ones too.
Old fishermen never die, they just smell that way.

Like I said, time to make some sausage. You don't need a permit to shoot boar either as they are a nuisance

Free Ranging Wild Boar/Feral Pigs
Recent amendments were made to both The Wildlife Regulations and The Stray
Animals Regulations in order to clarify the status of free ranging wild boar. Wild
boar or feral pigs that are outside a fenced enclosure will now be treated as
unprotected wildlife and Saskatchewan residents will be allowed to harvest them
without a licence. A person attempting to harvest wild boar will not be allowed to
accompany a big game hunter during a valid big game season nor will they be able
to harvest boar within a wildlife management unit, provincial park or other special
areas without a valid big game licence. All safety regulations are still in effect.

I know the locals see them on the regular first thing in the morning and towards the evening. If you get up early you'll have a shot, be friendly to a local farmer and it wont take long to get one.

Everyone thinks that you can just drive there and shoot a pig like a drive-thru restaurant. It's not that simple. Unless you're going to bait them and sit for days on end you are very unlikely to shoot a pig. They are nocturnal and sometimes you can't even push them out. They will sit at the base of a willow bush and watch you walk by. You MIGHT get lucky and see one at first light but it will be at a full run 300 yards away. Most locals won't tell you where the pigs are because big surprise, that's where they've been baiting/hunting deer. It's like giving away your favourite fishing spots.

Anyways, I am interested in ice thickness on the big lake, wondering if anyone has been out the rockpile yet.

Big Lake has some big bad ice heaves right in front of Lungs. Cold snap was been tough on west side ice. No perms no way to get them out over deep water, one thought about it and left his sitting close to shore in the rubble ice.  To get to the drop  I walked out and crossed  a couple of 2-3 ft. heaves. 10-15 inches of very brittle  layered broken ice hard made it hard to get ice anchors in for the  portable. One sled tried to get out but had no studs so just spun,  so he loaded up  and left. No other sign of fishermen. Very little snow in most areas once off shore so ice cleats a must. Heading North. Fish safe.
