It's a late start this year, but that doesn't mean that there isn't good fishing to be had. Was out to Carrot River Landing on the 26th, and it was locked up, didn't venture out with a spud to see what kind of ice was there, ice looked punky, need some -10* and colder weather to get things hard and moving along. Haven't been up to the river portion, is it locked up? Heard boats were still on it as of Nov 19th. Have a week booked off starting Dec 12th, was thinking I would be able to drive on the big lake when I booked them back in June, but looks like walking to some spots on the river portion is probably more likely.
Happy fishing to all, and stay safe, I had someone say to me they were going to drive out onto a body of water this coming weekend "because they have done it that weekend in years past" I shook my head and advised that they might want to test the ice with a spud instead of their vehicle. Test the ice and test it often, with some lakes having snow on them, you could have a 4-6" ice depth change within meters. Be safe, live to fish another day.
