What's your favorite fish species to ice fish for? Mine is crappies or bluegills. Nothing better than drilling 20+ holes trying to find the school of fish. And once your on them it's game on!! Nothing better!!

Exactly! That's my favorite also. I used to be all about the big fish, now I just love some deep-fried gills and crappies. Perch also, if they're around.

I don't necessarily have a favorite. If I am fishing a lake with nice gills, and mediocre crappies, I will try and target gills. If it is the other way around, I will target crappies. I also love using tipups, and jaw Jackers to target predator fish. Depending on what lake I am on it might be northern, walleye, bass, or all the above.

I'd have to say jumbo perch and I also have a blast catching bluegills. I fish for them most often because of a local hot spot under 5 minutes from home.

Upon first discovering my passion for ice fishing, I liked to catch primarily crappie (hence my shanty handle) however nothing like the tug of a bull gill on the end of my line these days haha. But this year I do plan to start walleye fishing more through the ice and then it's river time!! So gills, crappie, then eyes for me this year and probably in the same order lols.

Bluegills and crappie. Especially like the challenge of fishing a new lake and understanding where the big ones are and how to catch them. I learn a lot from talking to and watching locals who fish my favorite lakes regularly.

Walleye for me. I'm lucky enough to live a few minutes drive from the Saginaw Bay so walleye are my go to fish but had I grown up near a prime spother for some other game fish I'd probably target that species.

The only fish worth fishing for through the ice giant lake trout. Burbot would have to be my second choice. I guess if I lived in the deep south I would probably target walleyes and perch seeing as those were the fish I grew up with. I have a hard time these days fishing for fish that won't rip out 50 yards of drag in the blink of an eye or break rods and 20lb test like glass.

If I'm fishing for sport: bass.

Preferably Lake Erie walleye...

Sometimes the season isn't good enough for Erie ice, if that's the case it's sunfish and crappie..

my favorite by far is perch, i grew up ice fishing mille lacs with my dad and drilling a zillion holes on a mud flat trying to find them is a blast. number 2 would be walleyes (ya fish for perch you're gonna get some eyes) another that i love to catch but havent in a long long time are actually pout, they fight so hard and taste oh so good
