Colorado Kokanee thru the ice (11.26.16)
« on: Nov 26, 2016, 01:24 PM »

Parked twenty feet from the lake, and was on the ice by sunup.  3-4" of ice.  Caught a limit of kokanee by 8am, with some rainbows mixed in.  No traffic there or back, cleaned the fish, put them in a teriyaki brown sugar brine for overnight, and watching football by 12:30pm.  Not a bad half day.  Hope everyone is having a great Thanksgiving Weekend!
Flags up, gentlemen!!!

Nate puts in a strong early performance. I'm still typing and he's already limiting out. Well done.
We're born, we live for a while, and then we die.  Sounds like a good reason to go ice fishing.

Nice!! And the ice doesn't look like Swiss cheese like it normally does up there.  Glad you had a nice thanksgiving.

Hell yeah, Ron -- I'm looking forward to it!  Hope the same perch spot we fished last year with Slayer will be ready around Christmas.  And in the meantime, with the overnight temps forecasted, the Mile might even be ready the first or second week of December.  Plenty of ice options coming up soon!

Looks like the Snake Inlet. Good job. I was on the Snake inlet one year on 2" catching salmon.

Nice work Nate!  Too bad I wasn't able to join.  I thought I was going to get out up North on Sunday but the wind and weather kept me at home.  Going to try something next weekend.

Planning on heading up today, leaving Denver around 3:45-4pm to try my luck on the inlet Snake/Dillon. If anyone has interest, I have room for one.

Trying to get out more and try different places this year. Would love to meet some more good people to fish with. Let me know.

Also planning on heading out east for pheasants this Saturday.
I'm bringing my 7 mo old GWP puppy.
It'll be her second time, last time she kicked up a hen.
Hoping we see some roosters.
Good luck!

It's too bad that place is a zoo at first ice.  I hate crowds but I usually go at least once this time of year, usually just to say I did.

i dont even want to know what the ice looks like after today.  I showed up at 6:15 and there seemed to be as many people as I've ever seen on 11mile, except in about a 20x100ft area.  huts & all, barely a parking spot to be had off Swan.  needless to say I hightailed out of there and headed elsewhere.
