Most small ponds in Maine north of the 45th parallel should be ice fishable next weekend.

Was up in the Jackman area all weekend...wasn't nearly cold enough for anything to freeze solid.

Warm up coming end of this week then after that we should have winter.

45th Parallel is above Dexter, Maine (I remember the restaurant 45th Parallel there). No ice in Greenville whatsoever either. It will still be a little while up there as well. Not much snow up there and NO ICE.  Not this week for sure, it would be nice to get on some "A" ponds.

Looking at forecast ice will hit smaller bodies in Greenville area by the 10th or 11th is my guess.

People will also be hitting the early freezers around here by then as well.

I fished some of the early freezers around here last Sunday with my spinning rod.  No skim ice at all, it'll be a little bit yet.

On snowmobile website, said frenchville had groomer out. Don't know how true it is though.

most of the bigger trails are open and some of the smaller. yes the groomers been busy!  was heavy wet snow so it made a nice solid base. should have excellent conditions by x mas but there is very good conditions right now north of presque ilse and around higher elevations west of rt 11.  the allagash has a solid 2ft. of heavy white stuff! should be a banner year for winter sports! another 6-8in. coming mid week! gonna mess up ice conditions tho.

Not even gonna freeze up here this year. You boys might as well stay in Northern Mass.
It must be something in the water.

Scared of a little competition?
I don't think of fishing as a competition. I go out for the good time and maybe bring back a meal. I'm not concerned much with the latter, but the aforementioned can be difficult with a bunch of flatlanders around that think fishing is a competition.  ::) Typical of people from Mass.
It must be something in the water.
