Wondering the same thing. I have a new setup this year (100 gal stock tank, pond pump, and gravity filter). Im wondering if I can make it till the end of the season if I start now. I made this new setup to minimize water changes. wondering if I can get away with not doing any and just keep adding water if the level goes down. Heard some guys say they keep bait in this type of set up from Nov-Mar.

I like getting them early .  I don't have to fight the skim ice or risk going out on thin ice for a few baitfish

For the bait trap? I like to use rock hard pizza crust. It's usually not in shorty supply in my car.

Fishing relaxes me. It's like yoga, except I get to kill something.

I went to give it a try with my brother 2 weeks ago and set the trap right in front of us while we were trying to catch the goldies on hook and worm. after about and hour, we pulled up and went home. I counted out over 11 dozen trout sized shiners.
