One of the greatest hats I've ever owned, and it gets cold as hell here. -30 day and this sucker can be to warm if you're doing stuff.

I have not done business with either company but here are two places who may have what you are looking for in sheep skin/shearling hats.

Egli Farm (north western Ontario, Canada)               www.eglifarm.com

Shartlesville sheep skin and leather company (Shartlesville ,PA.)                www.shartlesvillesheepskin.com

I had a Beaver hat made from my own fur that I have trapped by Gorlics. As far as warmth, I can only wear it sitting still, move you'll sweat. Gorlic does a great job. I had the hat made over 30 years ago, still looks good and going strong! Gorlic also sells hats...

If price not a concern... Wolverine fur is resistant to frost, I would imagine ideal for ice fishing.

Fur hat prices depend on what type of fur you are looking for. Most any real fur will keep you very warm and certain furs will do better in wet environments than others. For instance, beaver is way more resistant to moisture than rabbit, it's just how the animals have adapted to the environment around them. So, it would make sense to choose a fur that's used in freezing/damp conditions in the first place. Since price isn't really a concern for you, your options are pretty much wide open. The options given so far run the gamut from "cheap" to relatively expensive so I'm sure you will find something.

Having said that, I've been wearing a CrownCap rabbit aviator in mossy oak scheme (the fabric is softer than the other colors and the texture doesn't drive me insane) for the last 4 seasons and just bought a new one the other day, my brothers dog ate my other one last spring and I needed a new hat for the upcoming season. $50 and it's the warmest hat I've ever owned. It resembles the madbomber suggested earlier in fashion. CrownCap also offers premium fur hats in many different skins.

Very Good thread Thanks for the links, I use a Yukon trax rabbit fur hat, its not the most expensive fur hat but is very warm. I agree you cannot go wrong with real animal fur in terms of warmth. I don't have the budget for it but Russian sable would be nice. My non ice fishing friends think Im crazy to buy real fur hats but when I'm out in the cold nothing will keep me warmer.

There's lots of nice hats on those sites but the price tags for some of them aren't very nice.
