Ice is Ready!!

Got out for the first time this season Saturday.  Small ponds had 2"-4" of good ice.  Caught a bunch of small rainbows, grayling, and some char.  Buddy got his first laker.  First grayling I caught slipped out of my hands and back down the hole leaving me with a Jay Cutler sad face.  Missed a nice 18"-20" char too.  Water was really clear and we could sight fish down to 8'.  Probably deeper but didn't want to push my luck.  Might try to get out for another round this weekend.

Lucky, lucky dog!  :thumbsup: The only place ice is ready for me is in the glass I am about to pour vodka into; now and probably for the next 2 months....  :wacko:

That said I anxiously await the incoming La Nina event and hope that I'm wrong about the 2 month thing. I can remember when we'd take fishing stuff along deer hunting so if we filled all the tags we'd have something to do. Here in WI, that's the week before Thanksgiving and it hasn't been like that for a long time...

Congrats on getting out!!!

Looks like the ice around the hole is sinking a lil bit.. I've been on ice that thin, has a little bit of a pucker factor..
