This felt good....1.5hrs from Colebrook...will be ready tomorrow.

Nils fired right up...bought a finbore for backup...vex is charging and I have goldens ready to go.

Well I was gunna hunt tmrw but for safety sake you shouldn't fish alone so you should inbox me the name of the lake and I'll meet you there. For safety purposes obviously I wouldn't dare try and squeeze early ice info outta you lol

LOL Did the same thing. Had to wait for a store to open for some Christmas shopping so I made the trip. Never fished it, but that will change. Looks nice and not to far out of my way.
Thanks lowaccord66 Back atcha. Good luck on the trip up north.

I tend to think the rain we got today instead of snow set back any possible fishable ice for the weekend.

It would definitely be nice to get on ice early this year compared to the dismal season we had last year!

I stood on ice in Somers today on my way home from work. Didn't have anything to actually check but walked out about 10 feet. I'd say solid 2.5 or 3. Not even that high in elevation and a moving body of water is locked. What an awesome sign

I was thinkin' of jiggin' in the rain: but; I'll wait a day.-Good to see by suppertimetonight flash freeze is comin' through. It'll be in the teens by dinner up in thehills-tomorrow won't get out of the twenties, and tomorrow night will dip back to the teens. Tues. and weds. will be sunny+thirties on the ice: places that were small& had 4-5" will be back to fishable. So I'll get out tues., weds, or both for a bit up in the tiny ponds& ice some fish before it warms up for Christmas: hopin' for the big chill!-

Do the math. Take the average temperature for the day.

Subtract 32 degrees from the average.

If the difference is negative we are likely making ice.  ;D

If the difference is positive we are likely losing ice.   :o

Hello everyone. New user to the forum. Looking to do some fishing Wednesday up in the NW corner. Does anyone think there will be safe ice by then with these below freezing temps at night and mid 30 daytime highs? I'm thinking a lot of the ice on the small ponds we had could be shot at this point.

Measured a solid 4 to 5" in NW corner on Sunday.  Water and slush on top of ice will refreeze the surface and make it thicker.  I walked on it and fished as well...  2 nice bass.
If you can't play nice, get off the ice!
