Worked well last year when I used one next a more aggressive presentation to call them in. I went to a deadstick rod last year instead of a float rig and don't expect to go back.

When I fish 2 poles one is always a dead stick too me. I use a very limber rod and tie on a bait for what I'm fishing for. I don't use a bobber the soft rod is the bobber,  it gives until I  reach over and set the hook. I really like a glow banna type jig with a live minnow. The minnow will wiggle around and draw in fish or if I'm jigging, a fish might see the jig but hit the dead stick.

I try to keep it simple. I have a thorne bros deadstick rod, braid mainline to a small egg sinker and swivel, 12-18" fluorocarbon leader with just a bare hook and minnow.

Dead stick......rod with line down. On end of line I put a lead head jig with a back hooked minnow about 1foot off of bottom . Sit and wait for the pole to bend down.
