Major fish kill at Henry's lake...
« on: Sep 28, 2016, 07:14 PM »
Don't worry though, Slapthefish knows how to cook them good.  I heard a rumor about Henry's,  December and World War III. Any truth to it? Prospector is looking forward to seeing all of you guys very soon!!!

Bring it on! I'll fight in that battle any day and yes slap can grill them up like a champ. But only 2 per day. That new sled of fishon's is going to be a mover from the way its looking. Icecutter said it was his favorite for many years until he got upgraded. I'm going to get the room booked today. If any one else is interested in going we will have quite the crew up there on December 2-4 and will be staying lakeside at the wild rose

I've got all the ingredients ready to roll!  Just need to remember a pan to cook them in.  Hell the size of fish that you people catch, we only need 2 to feed 8 of us.  I would starve if I was counting on myself!  But this is my year, I can feel it.  I took Prospectors advice and changed all my line to 2lb test (haha), and unknown to you all I have been writing notes for the past 3 years in a secret book to give myself the edge.  I just don't know where I'm going to find a shrunken head and unicorn tears this time of year.

Just did some modifications on my lights and bells that we put on the end of the rods. I think Slap is going to like them.  Speaking of Chris, wasn't he supposed to post some pictures from last year's trip? Surely  hockey seasons over by now.  Looking forward to seeing the geezer again. Feel free to bring your buddies, they were a hoot last year on the gorge. That was  Way cool of ice cutter to give fish on one that sled!  I will bring my snowmobiles this year, hopefully Woofie remembers to put gas in them before we drive out on the lake.  Rebuilt the clutch on the Yamaha, haven't tried it out yet though.  I'm going to take the boat out a couple more times, but after that it is time to pack the trailer for the hard deck.

Starting to pay attention to the temperatures up at Henrys, looks like they are 10-15 degrees warmer for their highs thus far.  We may have to light the candle and pray to the ice gods.  Bring on the COLD!!!

Going back thru henrys lake post to 2010, I have found that they have always been on the ice by then (DEC 1st), sometimes as early as Nov. 11. Occasionally there was still some open water present around the lake in areas but they were fishing 5in along the shores and slaying them. I will post up a "icegrowth in a 24hr period at given temps" graph. I found it very interesting on how much can literally grow overnight. There are conflicting extended forecasts. I prefer the accuweather.com one for sure

Fri 11/18.  33°/11° 0 in 0 in  Mostly sunny
Sat 11/19. 39°/9° 0 in 0 in   Sunshine
Sun 11/20. 42°/21° 0 in 0 in. Mostly sunny
Mon 11/21. 47°/24° 0.13 in 0.6 in  Snow and rain
Tue 11/22. 40°/15° 0.05 in 1.2 in  Times of clouds and sun
Wed 11/23. 34°/19° 0.08 in 1.4 in  Periods of snow
Thu 11/24. 34°/11° 0 in 0 in  Clouds giving way to some sun
Fri 11/25. 32°/4° 0 in 0 in  Clouds giving way to some sun
Sat 11/26. 26°/5° 0 in 0 in  Clouds giving way to some sun
Sun 11/27. 32°/6° 0 in 0 in  Partial sunshine
Mon 11/28. 38°/11° 0.13 in 2.6 in  Mostly cloudy
Tue 11/29. 34°/17° 0.11 in 1.7 in  Mostly cloudy, a bit of snow
Wed 11/30. 32°/17° 0.17 in 2.5 in  On-and-off snow

If you are in Twin Falls, I would head up to Cascade lake and check out those nice perch! Hoping to go over there in February and find one to remember.  Either way, have fun and keep us posted!

OOOHHH!!!! man this weather has got me all antsy to get on some ice. Temps have been below 32deg since nov16th at 230pm according to the NOAA site. Hardly any wind from 11pm last night till 11am today. Water surface temp was in the 40's last week which should have dropped significantly when the storm came in. I talked to Kevin at the rose and will get an ice report on Monday when he gets back up there. Its looking like this trip is a ago but machines might not be cruising around on the hard deck. I'll report back more as I get the info. Probably a good plan to get the ride situation figured out next week
