New toys? Builds?
« on: Sep 28, 2016, 06:23 AM »
Anyone got anything new they are doing. I'm getting the hard water itch as it comes time to put away the boat and get the rifle out. I'm looking to insulate the bottom of my shack and finally get some good use out of the LX-9 I got at the end of last season. Need to play with it and study up on features I did not get to try last year!

.Ron and I started insulating my floor. Easier task durring the build then after, but its half done. Using 1" foam board. Just hoping to help kepp a little cold out and heat in when shacks are not banked. Need to think about jig sleeves as well. Also putting spring spacers in the wheeler to help with the weight of the plow. When all that is all done will be spending my saturday night listening to Rowdy by the fire doing the "Sub Freezing Dance."

Your welds look pretty good on this side, but I suspect that's why you took the picture from this angle.

I don't think that the door is going to work there.  I might put it a bit higher on the frame.

Nice work.  I like the way that you hinged your skiis.  Clever.

I'm putting a lighter roof on my hardside, tin and foam. I tore down an old metal storage shed and going to use that for the roof. Last year my shack didn't make it out of the yard, but hopefully I'll get it on Green this year. I do really like my Polar Bird, but what is ice fishing without a shack to worry about.

Well Snopro, I've dropped a few pounds so I don't need the extra room. Plus the MRS requested a new lock on the door so it was a perfect time to do another ground-up build. I also was paying close attention over the last short ice season. If you build too big or nice of a shack (.Ron) people will visit long enough to drink all your beer.

That's exactly why I built the behemoth.  I like the company of my fishing friends more than I like fishing.

Made a five gallon bucket into a rod holder. Got six, six inch long pvc sections with notches cut for the reels to sit in. I made it to hold the rods whether the bucket is upside down or sitting right side up. The rod holders are on the same side as the handle mounts so they don't tip the bucket. Tight lines

Nice job on the bucket! Saw some finished pictures of iusedtacoulds shack, looks good, ill try to load them later. Got my shack all insulated and blocked up waiting for hard water. Got the suspension on my wheeler stiffened up for plowing. Hoping for a good winter!

I need a new winch for my wheeler, mainly plowing. I know I should just buy a Warn, but has anyone run a Superwinch Terra? I've read a lot of good and a little bad. Almost seems to good to be true at the price. Any other brands to consider?

I've heard a lot of good things about Viper winches. Pick them up on ebay pretty cheap
