New to Forum
« on: Sep 20, 2016, 08:28 AM »
Hi,

New to the forum and to ice fishing. I hope we have some COLD weather and I can get out a few times. What are people's favorite spots in Maryland, preferably close to Baltimore?

Have a great day!

Good Morning, Climbamt, and a Hearty welcome to the best addiction that you will ever have

When the time allows, add the area where you live to your profile, it makes answering questions easier when asked, people can direct you to things that are known in your area

Check the fish and game website in the state to see if a list is available of lakes for the state and what the ice fishing rules are, it gets you started

The activity is slowly increasing here on the IceShanty - Don't be afraid to look  at other threads and introduce your self, lots of friends here to be made

Be Safe - Have Fun Doing It

Capt.Jim-N.J.

Now is the time for all good men and women to engage in the sport of ice fishing

Greetings from southeast New York ,hopefully some members more familiar with your area of the United States will reply soon. While waiting for those replies I suggest searching through the Ice Fishing Maryland and West Virginia community/forum. You may find posts about lakes in the greater Baltimore,MD. area.

Little late here but will try to help. Most people fish the western part of md as much colder out there get more consistent and safe ice. Closer you have martins lagoon in Balt and broad creek in Hartford co.  Then you have big and little pool, greenbrier and blames valley in Washington.

I your new and want to learn go to deep creek once they start fishing the state park area.  Plenty of guys there will help you get started.  I don't think they are fishing it yet give it a few weeks. You will know where the hump is look for all the weeds on the ice.  Also if you have kids watch for the kids fishing clinic hopefully the ice continues to grow and it will happen this year.
