Another 2 months!
« on: Aug 28, 2016, 07:49 PM »
I have had a great spring and summer fishing open water.  Not looking forward to cold weather but ice fishing would be a nice change of pace.

A-town, jism lake, 11-mile, couple lakes in Wyo, wonder if Loveland lake will be better this year?

Only used my Fuel m-18 once last year, it's sweet.

Charged the LX-5 up.

maybe harvey Gap specially if the water level drops-

Went over my gear, ordered more jigs etc., and it looks like I'm ready for some hard water. Want to make it to some high lakes this year, so I hope the snow holds off for a bit. I can hardly wait!

Charged my lx5 and ion batteries.  Picked up a showdown 2.0 for the long hikes.  Found ice this morning at 10k.  Might spend some time on carp this year.

Slayer-- what did you wind up choosing for the blade section on your Fuel? What's that puppy weigh all together?
We're born, we live for a while, and then we die.  Sounds like a good reason to go ice fishing.

Getting pumped for ice season, as always fellas!!  From what Fishslap told me, sounds like we may be on the ice in late October.

Planning on chasing more perch this year, trying a few perch spots I know about to see if they've improved over the past few years.  From what I saw last season, the perch populations in Colorado waters are coming back strong.  Looking forward to that, for sure.

And a few new bass ponds to explore, here on the front range and hopefully out East in Nebraska.  Took a summer driving trip up to South Dakota and found a few amazing places, just not sure I want to make the long drive in the dead of winter.

Also, planning to hit the crack hard in Jan and Feb --- last season was a disappointment, hoping I can find a few nice ones.

Probably going to skip the Mile altogether.  That is one evil beeotch!

I'm using a 6" Mora non-lazer from a hand auger.  Will weigh it in the next month and post. Im guessing around 12 lbs.

Much obliged. Another opportunity to buy some jigs I might not have. Caught maybe three perch in my life and those by accident. I need some new water and give the Mile a chance to re-build..

I'm ready for ice.  I was out by mid November last year which I think was the earliest I've ever gotten out.  Bring it on!  It was a mediocre summer for me.

Stinky: no need to go crazy buying a ton of new perch jigs.  For deep water, many of the standard tungsten jigs work well.  Slayer got me turned onto small jigging raps last year, and they're now my favorite versatile bait to use in "perchy" places.  Perch, bass, wallies and trout will hit them.  Can't beat a jigging rap with a perch eye!

Hey Slayer, did you use your fuel combo during the lat season up on any mountain lakes, when the ice is about 20"?  I'm curious if you could use it all season.

Nah I didnt fish the mts. but once at 11-mile early last year.  I truly wonder about drilling 20-24" of HARD 11-mile ice all day with the electric.
