I am just itching for cold weather and ice season to explore some new water up here in Anchorage...and maybe if I'm lucky, there will be some frozen water in Utah during my November elk hunt! Soft water is overrated...bring on the hard deck!

Welcome to the group johnnycake, I to am an ice-aholic. LOL Maybe the name of the site should be changed to Ice-aholics iceshanty.com. Good to hear things are going well for you up north since the move and the time has come for some exploring. As for ice here in Nov its not impossible but with the way the heats been this summer I don't know if you'll find any. Hopefully you will be able to get a longer ice season in up there than here

The number of good lakes within 15 minutes of my house up here in Anchorage is insane! My little cupcake is gonna be kissing a few fish this winter I think!

Think I might just sleep in my ice tent during the Dutch oven cook-off to start the transition off right! Bring on winter! I'm hitting Aspen, CO at the end of October for Hockey, and Missoula, MT in November, I hope to find some ice to pop into.

With all the good deals flying around on the web for old stock ice fishing stuff, I'm going to be broke by the time the hard deck hits. LOL 37 deg when I left to come into work this morning. I actually finally broke out the jacket

We kinda got a lucky early snow and cold snap in Anchorage! Several of the local lakes are starting to cap up and I might just get to take my cupcake out for a spin on the hard deck this weekend!

Well of course! We woke up to rain and warm temps today, and by the time we wrapped up all the Halloween type activities, I'v the in town ice wasn't looking good enough to risk my cupcake on. Oh well, maybe we'll see if momma can let us go for a road trip tomorrow or next weekend.

That's too bad. Was waiting on a 1st ice pic. Still plenty warm here, but we are making progress on prepping for our 1st trip. I got my sled all tuned up and ready to haul some gear. Me and fishon1 did some mods to his flip and put another tow bar together. Just need to whip up a few more LED light projects for the flips and we'll be ready

That sucks that you wasn't able to get out on the ice. We are about a month away from our first ice I hope it gets colder I need to get out and walk on ice
