it was 61 degrees here in PA this morning. It sure felt better than the mid 70's low 80's we were getting. But fall is still a month away!  :(

It's supposed to go down to 48 at my house tonight so that'll be a nice tease.  At least the heat and humidity left and I hope it stays that way.

Snow geese are here in droves and Sandhill cranes are moving south as well.

Those are indicators that fall is here!

Calling for snow around here today, I doubt it will stay.

Getting a big dump today at Candle as well. Heading north for three days of fishing next weekend, might have to take the tundra instead of the quad!

I think we're getting too much snow up north too soon. With a big blanket of snow all the bogs and creeks will b insulated and unable to freeze properly. It's still pretty early and there's a chance it might melt but it is saskatchewan....
well if you were me then i'd be you and i really wouldn't know what the hell I was talking about...

over 2ft of snow here now, has settled/melted some...but not much.  the sloughs are frozen over and with all that snow cooling off the lakes it could be an early start!

Looks like winter is on hold - warmer lately with most of the snow melted in Toontown.
Actually hoping for mild temps for a bit. Makes it easier assembling the new shack outside. Sorry.  ;D

I went out on shore yesterday.  It was beautifully quiet.  When do you guys usually get on the ice with about 4-6 inches?
Get outside.  It does a body and mind good!

as a rule 4-6" sounds good to me..been fishing on less but without any snow cover.not being able to see whats under the snow is sketchy at first ice..especially at an unfamiliar lake.

Usually about the last week in November

We usually see 18"-20" between Christmas and New Years at the lake just north of La Ronge.  4"-6" sounds spooky especially when some open water can be seen there all winter every year. But I'm 62 and a lot more cautious than I used to be.  :)

i believe he was referring to walking not driving a truck.each lake can be different with underwater springs and those gas wells people are talking about. but your right 4-6" and seeing or getting close to open water is questionable for sure.

With the bite as good as it is right now who wants it to end? Looks like walk on by mid Dec. again if we are lucky this part of the country if things cool down soon, puddles are still ice free. Temps +10 even +14 C. called for this weekend. Keeping the Lund out for a while yet, late fall can be the best Walleye bite of the year. Flicker Minnow frenzy. fish safe.

What a great day out on the water on Saturday.  Full sun, and a little breezy.  We saw several boats out there.  Ended up connecting on a handful of fish.  My guide far outfished me.   ;D  It was a lot of fun.  Hard to believe we'll be out on the ice within a month.

Looking at the long range forecast a month might be a bit of a stretch but they have been wrong before.
