3 day getaway

Looking to take the wife on a 3 day weekend getaway. I would like to stay within 3 to 3.5 hours of Chicago, the closer the better! Wisconsin would be ideal but I would like to stay away from the tourist traps like the dells and door county. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Lake Geneva isn't as bad and only about 1 1/2hrs... My wife's fam has a great little café in Elkhorn too.
