The deck is looking good Drifter besides the roof are you going to screen the deck. Give yourself some protection from the bugs .  On other topics how is the efforts to put out the forest fire progressing .

This deck is getting a roof over it, no screen.
Eventually there will be another open deck off the front and connecting the two decks will be a screened in gazebo.

Had a good amount of rain the last couple of days so fire fighting is going well.
It hasn't increased in size since Sunday.

Lost most of yesterday to rain, but got some stuff done today. All the decking is down and the roof framing has started. Looks like a bunch more rain over the next 3 days though. :( Hopefully get the rest of the posts tied into the cabin tomorrow so I can start work on the roof rafters. Need to get the sheathing down so I can measure and order my roofing. ;)

Drifter thank you for the explanation , will be nice to see the photos when you have the cabin completed in a couple years.  Glad the fire is contained and weather is helping to extinguish the flames.

Where's the blue print  ;D

The last blue print that I had to work with for an addition had different measurements for the same thing. The idiot showed a door way on the print that had a mechanical room wall right in the middle of it in the original building. I spotted it right away but did not say anything until I had the sheeting off the existing building. The idiot did not know what to do but the business owner and I had already figured a fix for the problem. After all the mistakes on the project I quit working for that builder. I ended up doing all the carpenter work for that client after that fiasco.

To be honest engineers and architects cause a lot of problems in building trades. From what I see Drifter has more smarts on building than most engineers and architects.

Probably use some of this stuff.
It get good ratings and has good durability.

I was going to use that on a shed I built but it would end up costing a small fortune.  I went old school and used waste oil from oil changes in my vehicles, it worked great and also gave the wood a rich brown color.

Good day at the cabin today. Temps were perfect, bugs were not around and only a passing shower this afternoon. Got nearly all of the porch roof rafters up. If the weather holds I should be able to get some sheathing done tomorrow. :)

PS I hate engineers!!!!
Especially the ones that designed my Yamaha snowmobile!!!!

Glad the weather in Yellow Knife,NWT Canada was more favorable to outside work then most of the United States . It got close to 100 F here in south eastern New York,U.S.A. yesterday afternoon. Ditto the compliments for someone who is not a carpenter or home builder your work is outstanding all the more Impressive that you have done the majority of the build by yourself.    .

Got back to the lake after lunch this afternoon. Decided to hang my basement doors. Came together pretty nicely considering it was put together with spare parts from my neighbours shop. Even the top header isn't a top header it's a divider for a 2 door setup that I went to town on with my angle grinder. Had to make a filler for the window cut out on the left door and do some body work on a dent in the right one. Have to do some paint touchups and install a pair of plates so you can't crowbar the door open still.  :)

I'm guessing those hinge pins have a set screw  that's only accessible with the doors open.       ;)2

They are commercial hinges and the pins are non-removable.   ;)2

Got about 1/3 of the sheathing done. Was hoping to get 1/2 done but had multiple T-Storms roll through this afternoon.

Drifter always enjoy the photos ,also learning a lot about construction from the Cabin Build threads. I never though about the hinges until Idahogator mentioned the pins. May the weather allow you to finishing sheathing the porch/deck roof today.

Very impressive, just getting the sheathing on the roof by yourself is difficult.

Hey Drifter, not sure if you decided on a roof underlayment but the self adhesive ones are great for metal roofs, here's one:
