Harbor Freight Underwater Camera Questions
« on: Mar 15, 2016, 05:28 PM »
I just bought a used model #91309 ($20) and it is missing the ballast under the camera and also the LED lights are no longer attached, but included... if that makes sense.  :-\  I'm guessing the ballast is only used for weight to keep the camera in the proper vertical position so you aren't viewing a slightly titled image. Is that true? I'm also thinking I can solder the LED light ring back onto the camera but we'll see how that works out. If anyone has any experience in these areas and can offer any tips, I'd be mighty thankful.

try it w/o the weight in a bucket. maybe use a bolt & washers if it has threads. use stainless.
the leds are for night fishing mainly.

When underwater cameras first came out, they had no ballast to stabilize them. They were designed for you to attach clip on lead weight that ice fisherman commonly used to find the depth through their holes. They just clipped onto the camera, hanging from the bottom.

Found out the ballast for this camera can slide front to back to tilt the camera slightly up or down... I'm sure clipping a weight on the front or back would achieve the same goal. I'm certain I'll figure something out!
