UNION FALLS - A local man died today after falling through ice on Union Falls Pond, authorities said this evening.
Authorities have not yet named the man, but he was 59 years old, lived in the Union Falls area and was pronounced dead this afternoon at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, according to Lt. William Williams of the state police Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
Williams said the man went out ice fishing Sunday on Union Falls Pond. Authorities don't know what time he fell through the ice.
