Wanted to know what the ice was like up on Caspian and if anyone was catching some trout up there.

I've had decent luck on Caspien all winter. I've been out of town this past week, and will be heading home on Friday. Think the ice will hold up for one more day on the ice this weekend?

Anyone been on Caspian recently? I am considering going there tomorrow if the ice is safe. I hear it had near 18" a few days ago so my assumption is it's still safe, but would appreciate a more recent report.

I think you are pushing your luck. I would much rather tip toe out w/pick on -10 day on 2.5 inches of ice
than mess around with late ice. I fished cowbanks April 5th 20 years ago an went out
on 16 inches of ice on 65 degree day. Ice was honeycombed -  I've never seen ice go so fast.

If you go to Caspian be extra cautious. Not only will the general ice condition be sketchy but there are many springs in that lake that makes safe ice never a true reality.
