Ice Conditions for Four Horns Lake?
« on: Mar 01, 2016, 08:44 AM »
A group of us are headed down from Canada to the Blackfeet Reservation (Mar. 3-6) to fish Mission Lake, Kipp Lake and Four Horns Lake for big rainbows. We understand that both Mission and Kipp are ice free but we are looking for information or ice/fishing reports for Four Horns Lake. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We don't want to drag all of our ice fishing gear if all 3 lakes have open water. Cheers!

Fished Duck lake on Sunday.
In the morning there was 12" of black ice but by noon the center of the lake had opened up. There was about a 45 mph wind and it was actually causing a current under the ice! Would drop the hook down the hole and watch it move away to where you couldn't see it anymore!
Talked to the game warden coming off the lake he said Duck and Goose are the only lakes that were not open yet.
I have had friends fly fishing Mission and Four Horns for the past 2-3 weeks.

they planted walleye some 15 or so years ago.i think it was a one time thing. i would catch them by the dam using a big woolly bugger
on sink tip line while fishing for trout at that time they were about 10 inches.i would bet some nice size ones are in there how.i do not think people target them much.

fish till it hurts then fish some more
