Same here, Fishin. My Humminbird wants to get out and play for the first time! Wondering if some of the higher lakes might still be ok? Gypsy, park lake, etc.

Reminds me of a Peggy Lee hit song while in basic training (1969) called "Is that all there is."  Google it on youtube and give it a listen.  Pretty much sums up this "past" season.

No ice fishing restrictions or closures on Park Lake.  ...the 2016 Fishing Regs are just a couple clicks away. ;)

If you can get there, you can camp there, even right now. But I sure as heck couldn't get there, not in the car at least. Could have walked in two miles but that's a long trek for an unsure thing.

snowmobile is your best bet if you want to get to park lake this time of year.

Truth. Tried to convince my girlfriend a snowmobile was a necessary piece of ice fishing equipment.....didn't go over well.

Hyalite, Hebgen, Georgetown, & Delmoe still have safe ice. I'm sure there's a few others as well.

I was at Delmoe Friday 2/26 & ice varied 17" - 19". Sounds like G'Town still has 16" - 18".

A co-worker was at Ruby this past weekend. Wasted trip...didn't bring long enough boards & couldn't get on the ice...shoreline was blown out.

Unfortunately for us there's more bad ice than good ice.  :(  >:(

Many of us are, but I think you will find that boat guys are generally not as social as ice fishermen. Certainly appears that way to me.

You guys are killing me with this boat talk  ;D I'm really happy for you. But I want to either A. See some steelhead pictures or B. See Pictures of your boats parked in front of a snowbank. Those are the only soft water references I can handle right now. I've still got ice time ahead of me

;D Georgetown yesterday.  Better than two feet of ice.  Tried my new 8" Nils ice auger out and it smoked right through the ice, but two feet is still thick.  Caught some nice rainbows and got sunburned.  Great day on the ice with friends and family.

Was that better than 2 feet of ice measured?? Only reason I ask is because last time I fished it I measured 18 inches of ice & I can't imagine it growing 6+ inches since then. Not calling you out, but I feel much better taking to the ice this time of year with an accurate measurement in mind. Stay safe out there everyone !!

Danny was probably just rounding up....18 vs 24 inches...when it's that thick..who the heck cares...my report would be crap ton of ice...I am more concerned about reports in the less than 8 inch range....whether 18 or 24...should last thru closing even with this mild yr...I remember 5 yrs o r so ago...waking up in my rig at g town on March 31 and the temp was minus 6....a cold slush layer freezing up on an exposed area could add more inches than you think...I've seen wind blown areas of g town easily 6 to 12 inches more ice than 50 yds away...it's a big lake...wouldn't surprise me if the ice is anywhere from 12 to 24 inches depending where you are at...

Take a tape measure and measure from the tip of your fingers to your arm pit.  Now Imagine sticking your arm down the hole and not getting to the bottom.  That is my definition of better than two feet.

Interesting technique. I'd rather just use my scoop that has the measurements on it.  ;D
