A bunch of guys from work decided to take the day off and head to Simcoe in search of some whitefish and Lake trout. We didn't catch any lakers but had a great day catching whitefish. JakeTrout and I had found a little flat in 116 fow towards the end of the day the last time we were out that was holding some nice fish so, we set up on top of them and didn't move all day. The weather was perfect, full moon, no wind and bright sunny skies! The fish were there from the moment we drilled our holes. There were 6 of us fishing and it was neat to see how the fish moved around throughout the day. There were times I wouldn't mark a fish for 30 minutes but 20 meters away my buddies were seeing fish the entire time, then it would switch. Between the group we ended up landing 17 whities with losing a few on the way up (that includes one guy getting skunked, he couldn't buy a fish). The majority of the fish were caught using a “dropper” rig, Vibrato on the bottom with a small soft plastic 15” up the line. The soft plastic caught about half of our fish.
I’m looking forward to getting back out there this weekend!
