Early/ Late Season Ice Machine Once More

What do you guys think of this for early/late season ice?

It's a cool concept FK, but I'd be concerned that if the skis break through the rear wheels will stay up for a moment and the kayak will submarine. You might consider mounting the skis so the tips are forward of the kayak bow.

Thanks eirderz.  I see what you are saying.  I have ran this thing off o ;Df ice edges into open water and haven't had any problems.  I think it's because most of the weight is to the rear.  Also, the chassis and skis act almost like a ballast, so it is surprisingly stable.  That is also the problem.  Because the skis and chassis are below the waterline, you can't really get it back onto the ice.  One guy suggested coming up with a way to raise the skis and I think that is what I am going to work on next. I have some pretty hilarious video of me and my wife taking turns trying to get this back on the ice out of open water!

Keep tinkering Fisher Kat, you have about 8 months to perfect your toy! Nothing like a project to maintain your enthusiasm. You might post this on the Ice Fishing Transportation board, lots of tinkerers there. I bet you'd get some good suggestions.
