Cone marsh wildlife area. South of Iowa city. Looks like a decent body of water but can't find anything about fish in it. Anyone have any info on it. Thanks in advance.

Everything that is in the cedar. I duck hunt 5 miles from there. Every time the cedar floods it stocks it, very similar to wapsi backwaters. The cedar has been up and down a lot this winter, not sure there would be good ice. Heck it was flooding almost all of Jan. Should have a fresh stocking though.

Bass, catfish, crappie, bluegill, pike, walleye, and all rough fish.

Really?
I thought that was wetland only, waterfowl and bird watching.  I don't think there is any depth out there, but maybe I am mistaken or thinking of a different area.

Isn't that what the thread is called?
Like I said, maybe we are talking about two different places.
There is also a Cone Lake I believe.  two different things.

cone marsh is an old oxbow of the iowa and is west of conesville - a lot of people hunt the shallow water marsh...cone lake is an old oxbow of the cedar and is east of conesville

Yea sorry. I didnt think anyone would ask about ice fishing a 2' deep weed marsh so my brain must have thought he said cone lake. Lots of people fish cone lake.
