I thought my wife was more understanding than this
« on: Feb 10, 2016, 08:06 PM »
She hollered up to me while I was trying to post today's pics that there were maggots crawling all over the fridge and I needed to come clean them up. 3 of my spikes got out through a little hole in the container. There were only 3 out....

I had the same thing happen last week. Only Night crawlers were crawling around my entryway  floor. Some of those containers break away on the bottom seam after a few fishing trips.

My wife may have divorced me immediately.

I may have to try that.

  :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:  that's classic, read that story a few times online. At least you didn't leave them out and have them hatch into flies! Or had them crawling up your walls...
To be honest, I've never tried traditional spikes (bluebottle fly), just what we sell at Petco, where I work, which are black soldier fly larva. But this year I've pretty much stuck with wax worms because I got a tub at a reptile show and haven't used them up yet.

Cool, what kind?  Wouldn't be cheaper but may be healthier to get it frozen mice and rats sold for snakes. Check out some of the online vendors or go to a reptile show when vendors sell them bulk on-site, that's how I feed my snake and got my waxworms for bait this year.

It's a barred owl. I raise mice and rats for him and my snakes and my foxes but I don't always have enough so I pick up roadkill too

Ah gottcha, sounds like a nice zoo to have lol. Mine are more of the "exotic" type.  I have saltwater reef tanks, a conure, parolett, cockatiel, chinchilla, rosy boa, then the cat and dogs.

Btw, does an owl make a sound that kinda sounds like the screech the raptors did in the first Jurassic park...?

You should have told her you had something special planned for supper ;D
May God bless and keep you always, may your wishes all come true.
May you always do for others and let others do for you.
May you build a ladder to the stars and climb on every rung,
May your hands always be busy, may your feet always be swift.
May you have a strong foundation when the winds of changes shift.
May your heart always be joyful, may your songs always be sung.
May you stay forever young.

I have chinchillas, ferrets, hedgehogs, boas, a giant tortoise, fennec foxes, bearded dragons plus a bunch of regular farm animals. I also have emu eggs in the incubator. I bring the exotics around and do educational programs.

Yhea my wife wouldn't like that either. She is ok with night crawlers, not big on the striper bait (stinky macs).

Yeah I don't understand why they get their panties in a uproar over the little things. Mine flipped out one morning when she opened the fridge and a few crappie where in there flopping around like they just hit the ice

And she gets wound up over 3 spikies in the fridge  Somehow you need to use this to your advantage.

Mine would have been looking for a recipe for maggots. One time I had perch carcass in a freezer bag, in the freezer, till trash day. She knows how good they are and she ask if I would like her to look up a good recipe for them. :woot: I said sure thaw them out and see what you can do with them. :cookoo:

I bet she would have made me buy a new fridge! The only thing alive in her fridge is lobster and it had better be in the crisper drawer and not out crawling around.
