1st time out

My nephew has been asking me for about 5 years to take him ice fishing.  He was at his dad's house on all of the weekends I had to work so I was never able to get him out.  Our schedule's finally were able to meet up and I got him out yesterday.  We checked the ice Saturday afternoon and decided to hit the ice 1st thing on Sunday morning.  I only have the 1 vex so I decided I would put out some tip up's and let him use my vex to chase some panfish.  I ended up showing him the ropes and being a photographer for the better part of the day but he had a blast.  He ended up getting some gills and a 29.5" Northern.  When we filleted the fish he noticed a bluegill in the pikes stomach.  I cut open the stomach and the bluegill started flopping around.  Pretty cool to see.  He is already asking if we can go again in 2 weekends when he is back up this way next

Nice job, most likely created an ice fisherman there.  The only thing better than a sunset is a beautiful sunrise!!  Just being out for that sunrise was worth the price of admission!!!

Looks lime a fun and very nice day...nice pics. Did you guys have the wind we did?? Was out golfing Sunday and was very breezy...but warm.

Glad to see you took the time to teach.   Great photos and nice fish.  Looks like the ice is holding up but I did notice a lot of air bubbles in the ice on the hole photo shots.  Not a good sign for things to come.

Thanks guys.  Yes the wind was whipping pretty good on Sunday.  Was around 20mph when we left.  And the ice lost about 4" since the previous weekend.  Ice cracked a lot as I was walking around but I'm not the lightest of guys either.  Maybe I'll be able to get him out for some panfish next weekend if I can round up another vex and the winds lay down.
