I fished a higher elevation pond about 25 minutes away from about 8:30 to 3 on super bowl Sunday. There was a solid 5 inches of good black ice and the edges had firmed up since when I checked on Friday. We had the place all to ourselves until about 1:30 when another guy joined us who just happened to be a buddy of mine. We caught countless pickerel, prob 25-30 between the two of us, one small bass and jigged up some of the tiniest perch I've ever seen. Most of the pickerel were in the 15-20 inch range we a few dinks and a couple a little over 20. We had our traps setup all over the place and got some good exercise on a beautiful blue bird day. It was a real fun time getting a lot of flags seeing as though I've been targeting pike unsuccessfully for a lot of this year. We also saw what I believe was a ringneck pheasant running around right near my truck.
Home base
Lone bass
We covered a lot of ground. Probably a couple 100 yards between us jigging and not a sole in sight.
