Lake Winnebago

Any safe ice on Winnebago or any of the lakes around there. I realized Battle on Bago is quickly approaching and was wondering that the conditions are.

Is anyone concerned about ice thickness for Battle on Bago?

Reports on another website look like the ice survived but a lot of water on top of the ice. Guessing the water issues will b taken care of by next week. People still driving trucks out. Think I am gonna play it safe and take the atv out anyways. Will decide in the next couple of days.

Driving any kind of car or truck on Winnebago since the warm temps and winds have come through is highly dangerous! There were at least two vehicles reported to have partially dropped in off Merritt yesterday at the bridges. Others crossing small cracks dropped there front or rear ends in on the tree line. I was off Wendts two days ago and crossed a small unassuming crack an inch wide, as my buddy followed behind the ice dropped three inches plus on one side of the crack. Needless to say I will not be taking my truck out anymore. Winnebago claims lives yearly. Those that are still driving out are taking a big chance that it won't be them that she claims.
