assiniboine river west of Brandon

Have only fished it in the winter a couple of times without any luck.Never heard of anyone catching any species in the winter, but they can't just disappear.Anyone have any luck or advice?

I fished where the little Saskatchewan joins the Assiniboin about 45 years ago, fell through the ice and have never gone back. Lol. Like you said the fish have got to be somewhere. I have fished it a lot over the years in the summers, but have never had a lot of luck. I want to get a smaller boat that I can toss in the back of the truck and do some proper exploring of the river. As kids we fished the little Saskatchewan more than the Assiniboin, and had good luck, but it was all summer fishing.
