I'm in the "looking for my first" group, wondering what is out there thats interchangeable from boat to ice for fish finders??? I'd pull the trigger if I could put it on my boat when the ice is gone.

I use a Humminbird portable. Many to choose from, less expensive to more expensive.

Almost any Fish finder can be made to go on ice or boat
Look for one's that have transducers specifically for ice or boat so you can switch head of unit and not all the cords
Even Vexliar has boat transducers for open water

I have a little Humminbird 385ci that I decided to keep after I got my Marcum LX9 because it is great on the ice but also works great in my little 15' aluminum boat. It has the GPS built in so with a chip I can use it for navigation and waypoints too.
