Good Morning on the Ice
« on: Feb 06, 2016, 10:53 AM »
It was a great morning with my buddy. We didn't slam them, but I haven't seen him for a few months because of school. We hit a pond that hasn't been touched yet this year. A lot of sorting which was pretty annoying. Combined we caught 22 keepers and lost a few more right at the hole. Gold jig with a wax worm was what worked best for me, my buddy did the best with chartreuse with a waxie. Had a blast, that's what it's all about!

I'd rather be fishing!

It went well! I was catching fish about 4 weeks after surgery. Just had to hold the rod with my left arm and reel with my right hand. I couldn't stay off the ice haha. Thanks for asking, I appreciate it!

I caught 10 of those 22 pictured, then decided I couldn't turn another friend down when he asked if I wanted to go for crappies at dusk. I ended up catching two nice crappie, then 9 nice gills, with the biggest being about 8 1/2-9". Was a good day on the ice!
I'd rather be fishing!

Had my catch of 14 bluegills with my friend last evening and would pay $25 foe a meal that good anywhere. I would pay the extra $10 for the second helping.

Hard to beat a dinner of bluegills through the ice. Some nice looking fish
But don't quote me on that. I have a drinking problem, I keep running out of beer. I've always been a little bit crazy, but its kept me from going insane.

I'm allergic to fish unfortunately. They taste SO good, but my lungs/back tightens up and it's incredibly hard to breathe for me. So my friends use me as the cleaner/catcher of the fish  ::)  He sent me this pic.

Here's a few from the other night!

You are allergic to fish and you still clean them? Wow thats nice of you. I would catch them but they would be on their own from there.

Yeah I don't always help clean. Not as much anymore at least. Catching fish is fun in itself, I could care less if I keep any!

It would totally suck to not be able to eat fish! At least you get to enjoy catching them.

Michiganoutdoorsman - I as well am allergic to fish and absolutely love fishing - most of my fisherfriends like to fish with me as I give them much of what I catch. Keeping only a few for friends and family gifts. Its funny the looks I get when I salmon fish and wear gloves - people must think I'm a "pu$$y"...

The struggle is real.

Luckily I can still touch fish, just not eat them. My principal from high school was the opposite. He could eat them but had to wear gloves or the slime would make his hands swell up. I'd rather be able to touch them I think!

Depending on the fish I can hardly touch them for more than about a min or two. If I filet Salmon or Trout I need to wear gloves otherwise my hands get really dry and cracked and sometimes what look like little white pimples appear. ( Not hives or red ) Less oily fish I can sometimes take one bite or two bites of but I don't dare take much more, my throat would close up.
