Just wondering what methods people use to keep bigger fish alive such as pike in catch and release tournaments

I would think that they would bring the biggest cooler they had.
I know I would.  :afro:

Get a really large cooler and a battery operated aerator.

Depending on how thick the ice is my freinds drill three or four holes touching but not all the way through and make like a live well. They scoop water from there hole in it like a aquirium.     Mark

If we want to create a 'live well' on the ice, we will cut a line of 6 or 8 pairs of holes 2/3rd of the way down into the ice, and just barely touching each other -- then using a spud, chip out the sides between the holes so they are all connected, and then punch through the bottom of one of the corner holes to fill it with fresh water (if the hole is too big that you risk fish escaping, jam a rock into it)!  We have kept fish alive all weekend using this type of 'live well'...!

Had the same thing for years monkeyyboness..A cheep bilge pump some hose and a length of PVC with holes drilled in it..  I have a live well in the boat now but I use to keep 5 nice bass in mine to weigh in in the summer tournaments...
A block of ice always helped when it was hot out....
But in the winter a big cooler with cold water in should get you to the weigh in...
Strangers stopping strangers just to shake there hand.
